Nano Banana Edit: Context-Aware Image Editing, Not Generation from Scratch

Nano Banana Edit is the dedicated editing model in the Nano Banana family. Unlike Nano Banana, Pro, and Nano Banana 2 — which generate images from text prompts — Edit works exclusively with existing images. It performs image-to-image transformations: feed it a source image and a text prompt describing the desired change, and it modifies the image while preserving the elements you want to keep. It accepts up to 10 reference images for context-aware editing, enabling style transfer (apply the visual style of one image to another), object modification (change, add, or remove specific elements), and creative remixing (blend visual elements from multiple sources). The model's semantic understanding means it recognizes what objects, people, and scenes are in your image, so edits respect the underlying content structure.
